The Leuven Coordinating Centre (LCC) is an academic research centre with more than 20 years’ experience in delivering services for clinical research under the scientific leadership of Prof Frans Van de Werf, MD, PhD. (untill 2013) and Prof Stefan Janssens, MD, PhD (from 2013 on).
We conduct phase II, III and IV clinical trials in all therapeutic areas e.g. cardiology, neurology, dermatology. Our main focus is on phase II and III trials in cardiovascular diseases. In addition, we also have a broad experience in setting up and maintaining registries.
We are part of the VIGOUR organisation (Virtual Coordinating Center for Global Collaborative Cardiovascular Research) formed in 1995 to perform global clinical trials. Consisting of regional coordinating centres located in Argentina, Australia, Canada, New-Zealand, Sweden and USA, the basis for VIGOUR is a true partnership that shares knowledge, resources and academic collaboration.
All our studies and registries are carried out according to the International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) Guidelines and the European legislation based on ICH-GCP: the Clinical Trials Directive (Directive 2001/20/EC) followed by the GCP Directive (Directive 2005/28/EC) clarifying the principles of GCP with more detailed guidelines.
