Lander LoeckxKU Leuven Research & Development (LRD), the Industrial Research Fund (IOF), Leuven Arenberg Doctoral School, Leuven Biomedical Sciences Doctoral School and Doctoral School Humanities & Social Sciences organise a training course on knowledge & technology transfer and the exploitation of research. The five day course is spread over a period of five months, from November 2012 until March 2013.

This training course introduces doctoral and post-doctoral researchers of all diciplines into the different routes of technology & knowledge transfer and highlights the key attention points and success factors. Experts will cover the three main aspects of research exploitation:

The approach is highly hands-on. In addition to case studies and testimonies, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers will work out an exploitation plan in small teams of two to four people. The exploitation plans should be based on the research results of one of the team members or one of their research groups. The development of the exploitation plans will be coached by LRD staff, IOF staff & mandate holders and Research Centre coordinators. A jury of industry experts and investors will assign an award to the two best exploitation plans.

Apart from feeling more reassured when developing future exploitation plans, participants will receive a certificate which they can add to their curriculum vitae. This certificate is also very useful when creating a spin-off company or applying for an IWT grant.

This training is targeted at researchers reaching the end phase of their PhD, as well as researchers who have already obtained their PhD.
